The super fight that has been years in the making appears to be on the verge of finally happening. 

Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2) has reportedly agreed to the terms for a May 2 fight with Floyd Mayweather (47-0), according to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports. 

Iole notes that Mayweather's representatives have also agreed to the deal, but have yet to receive the fighter's approval. 

"I want this fight to actually happen," promoter Bob Arum said. "I want everybody to make a lot of money on the fight. I want the public to be satisfied. And I think it will be a terrific event. That's what I want, and I've done everything in my power to make that happen.

"I think Manny has been very reasonable and demonstrated that he wants the fight to happen. Now, we're waiting on Floyd. That's not to say that Floyd has been obstinate, that Floyd won't do it, but we're waiting on him."

Mayweather is expected to command 60 percent of the purse, according to the Los Angeles Times. Iole believes that figure could be worth close to $120 million.

Pacquiao last fought two months ago, retaining the WBO welterweight title in a unanimous decision win over Chris Algieri. 

Mayweather collected his 47th career win by beating Marcos Maidana in September.

The new year is not off to a great start for Chris Brown. The R&B superstar was hosting an event at a San Jose nightclub early Sunday morning when gunshots rang out.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the shooting happened at 1:20 a.m. near San Jose’s Fiesta nightclub, where Brown was performing at “Capricorn Bash” hosted by San Francisco hip-hop station 106 KMEL. Five people were shot and wounded, while Brown escaped injury.

“I’m 100,” he later tweeted (and deleted).

Four people were rushed to the hospital after suffering gunshot wounds. Shortly after, another shooting victim walked into a local hospital. Police say all five injured are expected to survive.

In the cell phone footage (via TMZ), Brown can be see wincing before his security team ushers him away. Pandemonium ensues as clubgoers rush to the exit.

Several people were detained in the aftermath of the shooting, but it’s unclear if anyone was arrested.

Brown was hosting a pre-VMA event at 1OAK in West Hollywood in August when shotsrang out, wounding three people including Suge Knight.

The “Loyal” singer is set to embark on his “Between the Sheets Tour” with Trey Songz on Jan. 28.

Amidst speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea, Barcelona star Lionel Messi last night finished 2nd in the Ballon d’Or main award.

His votes for Manager of the Year left plenty of Chelsea and Barcelona fans eyebrows raised.

Messi voted Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella first, Bayern coach Pep Guardiola 2nd and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho 3rd.

The Argentine superstar has obvious ties with Sabella and Guardiola but has never played under Jose Mourinho.

Asked about his vote for Jose Mourinho afterwards, Messi said “Mourinho is a great coach. Whether you like him or not as a person, you have to recognise he’s a great coach”.

Arsenal hope to sign £25m midfielder “within weeks”

Arsenal are hoping to complete a deal with Sporting Clb of Portugal for highly-sought after midfielder William Carvalho in the next two weeks.

The Gunners have been linked with the Portuguese international since last summer and reportedly failed with a deadline day bid, the Independent reported back in September.

No fee was mentioned from the summer but Manchester United also failed in their attempts to bring the 22-year old of Angolan descent.

Arsène Wenger is expected to priortise on strengthening the Arsenal defence over the next fortnight or so whilst the winter transfer window is open. Arsenal currently only have three centre-backs on their books whilst their holding midfielders aren’t respected amongst many journalists as players who should be at a top four club.

Mikel Arteta’s movement and tackling is limited, Mathieu Flamini has been exposed this season and Jack Wilshere plays better in an attacking role. Francis Coquelin has shown promise over the past few games, but will Wenger take a gamble on the French midfielder for the remainder of the season, or bring in an established player like William Carvalho?

Carvalho stands at 6’2″, weighing in excess of 14 stone and has good technical ability. He could certainly be a physical presence in the centre of the Arsenal midfield that they have not really had since Gilberto Silva.

The £25 million fee could be a stumbling block for Arsenal who have spent big money on Mesut Özil, Alexis Sánchez and Calum Chambers over the past two summers.

Cristiano Ronaldo has urged Real Madrid fans to get behind Gareth Bale – and stop booing the Wales forward.

Bale came under fire for going for goal instead of passing to an unmarked Ronaldo during Saturday’s Primera Division win over Espanyol.

Despite showing his frustration at the time, Ronaldo insists there is no issue between Bale and himself him while urging the Madrid fans to ‘be nice’ to the former Tottenham winger.

Speaking to reporters at the FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony, where he was voted the best player in the world for the third time, Ronaldo said: “Madrid fans are always the same, they are very intense, they show what they feel, they aren’t liars.

“But I think the things with ‘Gaz’ are normal because they know that Gaz is a very important player for us, a key player.

“What happened on Saturday is in the past, sometimes I make mistakes too so it’s part of the business, part of football. I think the people will be nice with him and they should be nice with him.”

Thierry Henry will make debut this weekend at Arsenal game against Manchester City

Thierry Henry will make his Sky Sports debut this weekend as an analyst for the Premier League tie between Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Arsenal and Premier League legend was snapped up by the broadcasters at the end of last year after an impressive performance covering last summer’s World Cup with the BBC.

Henry will be on-site at the Emirates Stadium in the Sky studio alongside Graeme Souness. Sky have effectively put their worst pundit next to the former France international to make him come across like a genius.

Sky have had a couple of adverts building up Thierry Henry’s debut over the past couple of months, including this advert from current Sky pundits praising him:

Thierry Henry spent eight seasons with Arsenal between 1999-2007 and a further couple of months on loan during the 2011-12 season, scoring 175 goals in 258 Premier League appearances, helping the Gunners to the Premier League in 2001-02 and again as part of the ‘invincibles’ of 2003-04.

He was also a three-time winner of the FA Cup with Arsenal before moving onto Barcelona where his honours included two La Liga titles and the 2008-09 UEFA Champions League.

Henry was part of the French squad that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000.

NEW YORK CITY – Queens based rapper, entrepreneur, and actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has been reportedly shot 9 times again and somehow survived again. Physicians say he is in serious condition and currently being hospitalized.

Jackson was shot 9 times Friday morning outside of his $14.5 Million dollar mansion in Farmington, Connecticut in broad daylight. Police say the shooter, identified as 26 year old Eugene Hughes, fled the scene after he shot Jackson but was later caught by Farmington Police after he was found in the backyard of a nearby house apparently on his knees and praying “God please don’t let them catch me, I hate my life enough already” as police tased Hughes and cracked jokes about his prayer as they handcuffed him.

It is not the first time Jackson has been a victim of gun violence. Jackson was also shot 9 times at close range back in May of 2000 in his hometown of South Jamaica, Queens. Jackson also appears to have natural body armor built into the inner layers of skin which explains his ability to survive gunshot wounds.

Rapper and friend of Jackson, DJ Whoo Kid, told reporters: “Man, 50 is just too hood for his own good, wait that rhymes! that’ll be a good song right? but anyways yeah, 50 was maybe better off resting in peace, I hate to see him suffer like this”. Family and friends of Jackson have been already been seen visiting Jackson at the hospital where he is being treated.

Gunman Eugene Hughes is facing charges on attempted murder, AND the “attempted murder of Curtis Jackson”, which has been introduced as a new offense simply because Jackson has been shot “Too many times that it is now a worse crime to shoot Jackson than any other human being”. Hughes is expected to appear in court sometime in March and if found guilty, can serve up to 40 years in federal prison.
