Manchester United have completed a triple swoop at a Dutch awards ceremony in what was a good night for the club.
Louis van Gaal was named Dutch coach of the year for his leadership of the Netherlands national team at the 2014 World Cup, with the Oranje eventually finishing third in Brazil.
Since the tournament van Gaal has also been in impressive form in the United dugout and after a shaky start has guided the side to third in the Premier League currently with six successive victories.
Red Devils striker Robin van Persie picked up the gong for sports moment of the year for his header during the 5-1 win over Spain in their World Cup group match.
Van Persie’s effort against the then reigning champions was also shortlisted for the Puskas award for best goal of the year and helped the Dutch qualify top in a potentially tricky group that also contained Australia and Chile.
Finally Daley Blind was named athlete of the year for his displays for Ajax, the national team and now Man United after the midfielder completed a £13.8m summer switch to Old Trafford from the Amsterdam Arena
