The Real Madrid star was not impressed with Platini’s recent comments and showed his displeasure at the CWC final.
Earlier this year, UEFA president Michel Platini incurred the wrath of Real Madrid, and especially Cristiano Ronaldo fans with comments he made about their favorite player.
Despite the two-time Ballon d’Or winner being a favorite to defend his title in January, the retired midfield star, who won three prizes from 1983-1985 during a successful spell with Juventus, believes that the much-sought award should go to a German player.
Die Mannschaft enjoyed a successful tournament in Brazil as they steamrolled past the hosts en route to clinching victory over Argentina thanks to Mario Gotze’s late goal. And when asked about his opinion, the former French international stated:
“I don’t vote for the Ballon d’Or but, in principle, [in a World Cup year] it’s a player who has produced big performances in the tournament who wins it so it should be a German this year.”
Real Madrid were not impressed, and obviously, neither was CR7. So a month later, here he is showing his displeasure after his team’s win in the Club World Cup final
