Music’s royal couple, Jay Z and
Beyonce, kicked off one of the most anticipated tours of the year, and
maybe in history, Wednesday night in Miami. Mr. and Mrs. Carter
performed in front of thousands of fans in Miami’s Sun Life Stadium.
According to consequenceofsound.net:
“Jay Z and Beyonce kicked off their record-setting North American stadium tour, aka On The Run,
in Miami. The dynamic duo ran through a mammoth 42-song set, featuring
songs from just about every era of their respective careers. Among
particular highlights, Beyonce filling in for Justin Timberlake on Holy Grail, Jay’s new remix of Beyonce’s Partition and a tribute to Michael Jackson during Love on Top.“
Jay and Bey wowed their fans completely by themselves. As reported by billboard.com:
“Alternating in the sparse, almost
industrial-looking stage, Beyonce and Jay Z proceeded to take us on a
journey of fashion, high-level performance and music, always returning
to the central theme of love — challenged, perhaps, but finally standing
strong.”
“And it was all about the Carters. There
were no guest acts and no visible band, save for a rare appearance here
or there from an instrument or back-up singer. Jay Z managed to power
through his arsenal of hits — from Ni***s in Paris to Clique to 99 Problems and –
forcefully and alone, without any props except the screen behind him.
Beyonce, meanwhile, made every one of her songs a visual experience,
each featuring new outfits (what an impressive array of leotards and
catsuits that woman has!) and choreography.”
The On The Run Tour will make its way to major U.S. cities this summer and may get extended to other countries eventually.
