Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers has made clear his intentions to bring in new players come January transfer window even after spending massively in the summer.
“There will always be speculation,” he told reporters. “If there’s a possibility to strengthen we will take a look, for the right type of player.”
Liverpool travel to Burnley on Boxing Day having drawn 2-2 with Arsenal last time out thanks to a late goal from Martin Skrtel and Rodgers feels his side are slowly starting to improve.
“I would never question the character of this team. Slowly our game is coming back together,” he added.
“January to the end of the season was wonderful. We exceeded many people’s expectations, rubber-stamped an identity.
“The opening part of this season has been less impressive, but there’s reasons for that. In the last few weeks, the belief and confidence are growing again.”
The Liverpool boss is, however, expecting a tough game at Turf Moor, as the hosts have improved in recent weeks and lost just two of their last seven games.

“I know Sean [Dyche] very well. He’s done a great job with very limited resources,” he said. “The boy [Danny] Ings is a talent. We understand it is going to be a difficult game for us.

“It’s a period where you have to manage players if you want fresh performances.” Rogers said
