The 25-year-old left Spurs for Real in 2013 and has admitted that he still harbours some affection for his former club.
And as well as wishing Tottenham well, Bale claims he is happiest when Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal are struggling.
“You can understand the games a little better.
“When you play in the Premier League you are only concentrated on your team’s game.
“I am still happy when Tottenham win and Arsenal lose.”
Bale has been linked with a sensational return to the Premier League with Manchester United next summer.
And while a host of English clubs would surely be keen to bring the Welsh winger back to this country, it seems unlikely that Arsenal will be able to get into the running for the player’s signature given his longstanding animosity
